Building Homes, Dreams, and Futures with Skyjack

POSTED September 27, 2018

September 27, 2018; Guelph, Ontario – Linamar Corporation’s (TSX:LNR) Skyjack division is helping their head office community work towards a world where everyone has a safe, decent place to call home. This past summer Skyjack’s Guelph team was on-site with Habitat for Humanity Wellington Dufferin Guelph helping with their largest project yet – Cityview Village located in Guelph, Ontario.

“This development is providing affordable homeownership to 28 families & individuals in our community. This would not be possible without the support of our community partners, including Skyjack,” says Amber Wood, director of development, marketing & communications at Habitat for Humanity Wellington Dufferin Guelph.

“These homes support families, seniors, and individuals with special needs, ensuring they have access to safe and affordable housing,” says Wood.

In addition to becoming a community partner at the start of the summer, Skyjack also provided two in-kind machine rentals. A SJ63 AJ with horizontal reach of 40ft (12.19m) and up-and-over clearance of 27.5ft (8.38m) was used at the Cityview Village site. This articulating boom helped provide the team on-site with a safe and effective way to complete all brick and exterior siding work. A SJIII 3219 scissor lift was also donated to help Habitat for Humanity renovate their Fergus ReStore. The scissor lift was used to install new lighting and aid in painting the space.

“Skyjack employs over 1,500 individuals within the Guelph area. We’re proud of where we come from and we’re happy to help our local community help each other,” says Malcolm Early, vice president of marketing at Skyjack. “We have the ability to lend assistance and we have a feeling you’re going to start seeing a lot more Skyjacks on-site at local not for profits.”

Skyjack’s next build day with Habitat for Humanity takes place on October 15th. Their team will be on-site assisting with the interior finishing touches of the Cityview Village development.

“It takes a community to build a village and we’re very grateful for the equipment, and time donated by Skyjack and their team,” says Glenn Blight, Director of Construction with our local Habitat for Humanity. “It’s a truly spectacular moment when a family moves into their home for the first time. It’s a dream come true for these families,” says Blight.
