WE RISE: Lifting Charitable Contributions to a Whole New Level

POSTED March 11, 2021

March 11, 2021; Guelph, Ontario – Linamar Corporation’s (TSX:LNR) Skyjack division launched a WE RISE campaign in June 2020 aimed at shedding light on the positive contributions the access industry made throughout the pandemic. The industry leader motivated rental companies to take charge and submit their stories by offering up a lofty first prize – a brand new SJ3219 DC scissor lift. The results are tallied and the winners were announced at Skyjack’s virtual trade show SKYWORLD Live.

“The campaign itself intended to promote ways rental companies were helping their local communities push through the pandemic,” explains Ken McDougall, president at Skyjack. “We specifically looked for submissions that supported front line workers, helping those in need as a result of reduced household income because of job losses, and promoting community spirit throughout one of the most difficult years we’ve seen in a long time.”

After an internal review of all submissions, Skyjack decided to select first prize two winners: the winner from the Americas was Location d’Equipment MAXIMUM out of Alma, Quebec Canada, and the winner from EMEA and ROW regions was Star Platforms whose head office is based in Luton, Bedfordshire UK. The winners were given a week to decide if they’d like to take the SJ3219, or have its equivalent value donated to a charity of their choice.

“The scissor lift we donated to Mr. Racine so he could visit his wife in the long-term care home facility was nothing compared to seeing the joy on his and his wife’s faces,” said Danny Tremblay, branch manager at Location d’Equipment MAXIMUM. “It was an amazing love story that touched us all.”

Star Platforms Joint Managing Directors Richard Miller and Steve Simmons have confirmed they will be taking the scissor lift and using the rental revenue from that model to further support charities within their community.

“We’re thrilled and delighted to be awarded with this first place prize. We’re very closely partnered with Skyjack, they’ve been a big supplier and a big part of Star Platforms success over the years,” said Richard Miller, joint managing director at Star Platforms. “I think I speak for everyone here when I say we’re thrilled with this outcome.”

Simmons also mentioned the first charity to reap the benefits of their new prize has already been selected by their team. The first two months of rental revenue will go to The Hospice of St. Francis, which helps 2,000 local people and their families, in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, to live their precious lives well through improving symptoms, achieving personal goals and helping them to feel safe.

“Our team received high-quality submissions from across the globe so we also wanted to recognize everyone who took the time to share their stories,” McDougall continues. “Each company that submitted a WE RISE story has the chance to choose a charity to receive a $1,000 donation made in their name.”
