|Skyjack’s new articulating boom to launch in UK at Vertikal Days|
May 23, 2017; Guelph, Ontario – Linamar Corporation’s (TSX-LNR) Skyjack division’s new articulating boom, the SJ85 AJ, will make its UK debut at Vertikal Days, from May 24-25 at stand 100/102. Visitors to Britain’s premier access trade show, which is held at the Silverstone motor-racing circuit near Northampton in the midlands, can learn more about Skyjack’s largest new articulating boom, and discover how the SJ85 AJ is set to redefine the market for this class of mobile elevating work platform.
“The new SJ85 AJ is a great addition to our growing line of articulating booms, that offers an excellent combination of flexibility and increased productivity, which we believe sets a new benchmark in this class,” says David Hall, product and business development manager at Skyjack. “We’re proud to be showing the SJ85 AJ for the first time in the UK at Vertikal Days.”
Redefining the articulating boom class
The new SJ85 AJ is the largest of Skyjack’s articulating booms. It features a class-leading platform height of 25.9 m (85 ft), a working height of 27.9 m (91 ft), a horizontal reach of 17.07 m (56 ft) and a superior up-and-over clearance of 10.36 m (34 ft). It has 360º continuous turret rotation, a dual capacity rating of 340/227 kg (750/500 lbs) and two to three people rating to increase productivity and jobsite performance. Indicator lights on the upper and lower controls show the applicable working zone and platform capabilities.
“We’ve gone one step further with this new articulating boom,” said Corey Connolly, product manager at Skyjack. “Having a large unit with exceptional up-and-over clearance to complement the great working height and horizontal reach will mean that operators are able to complete many tasks across all kinds of applications.”
The SJ85 AJ also has efficient function speeds: its riser and boom geometry allows operators to go from the ground to max height in approximately 60 seconds.
“As a versatile unit, the SJ85 AJ offers a great return on investment for rental customers and increases our competitive edge in articulating boom market,” Connolly said.
Clever features for enhanced functionality
As with Skyjack’s other articulating booms, the SJ85 AJ utilizes an open center knuckle riser design which enables efficient function speeds from ground to maximum height in around 60 seconds, as well as minimal tailswing and compact stowed dimensions.
The unit also features: SkyRiser™, a true vertical rise without drifting; SpeedyReach™, the lowering of the fly boom to ground level for re-stocking without lowering the riser; EasyDrive™, directionsensing drive and steer controls regardless of turret position over chassis; and AxlDrive™, an axlebased drive system for excellent rough terrain traction.
Skyjack will also display a range of its mobile elevating work platforms at Vertikal Days, including: a vertical mast lift (SJ16), four DC electric scissor lifts (SJIII 3219, SJIII 3226, SJIII 4632, SJIII 4740), two rough terrain scissor lifts (SJ6832 RTE, SJ9241 RT), and two other articulating booms (SJ30 ARJE, SJ46 AJ).
